Active Duty Military Personnel Special Offer
I offer free rental and outfitting for Military Personnel who are home on leave. This offer is for themselves (and may include an immediate family member or significant other when accompanying the soldier who is home on leave). This offer is good for up to 5 days for each soldier who lives within 200 miles of the Silent Glide Canoe and Kayak Shop and is able to transport any equipment themselves. There will only be a charge for time and expenses if I provide transport or shuttle service for equipment and/or people. Please call 715-748-0148 or contact me as far in advance as possible as this offer is contingent on the availability of rental equipment.

Guiding & Outdoor Adventures
These Outdoor Adventures are designed for entry level participants but paddling skills will be assessed and augmented as necessary for the desired Outdoor Adventure.
Themes will be:
- A Taste of Wisconsin: Relax, paddle, camp, bird watch, eat well, etc. This can be exactly what you want it to be. For instance: Perhaps you would like to drive to several gorgeous northern Wisconsin lakes and rivers that you have heard about. You would like to bring your bike and do some riding as well as paddling and get picked up rather than return on the bike. Camping in US Forest service campgrounds is fine with you some nights but would like more primitive camping on others and maybe camping out of the canoe on still others. Stopping to visit state wild life areas for a tour would be fun to add in and maybe visit with a geologist to learn about the formation of our land and water resources. Just spend a week enjoying and learning at your own pace and even decide that pace as we go. Maybe you have a camper you would like to use. Perhaps you have a group of friends and would like to caravan from place to place. After we make a basic plan you leave the details to us and just have fun. As with all trips we expect you to help out with camp chores; it is part of the fun after all.
- Art in the wilderness: This will include but not be limited to photography, water color, acrylics, and carving. Time and coaching will be set aside in the schedule to allow you to return home with a special rendering of your visit to a place of natural beauty.
- Our Geological Heritage: On these trips special emphasis will be built in the planning process to visit and understand our our heritage of bedrock, glacial deposits, water resources and weather.
- Leadership Through Building a High Performance Team: Activities and resources, campfire discussions and scenario sharing will provide food for thought and support an equally shared Responsibility Based Culture within your team.
- Youth Leadership Adventure: Your Youth Group will be involved in the planning, instruction, rule setting and delivery of these trips. Paddling, trip planning,outdoor living, nature appreciation, survival skills and fun will be part of every day life during this adventure.
- Just for fun: No particular theme. Just get out there for a few hours or a few days. You tell us what kind of experience you would like and we help you have just that. It might be fishing, bird watching, exercise or just relaxed day dreaming. Perhaps you would like a steak cook out on an island at sunset. Maybe it is just the feel of the evening breeze as you drift in your kayak or canoe.
- Winter in the Wilderness: Experience a two to five day winter camping adventure. This is strictly non-motorized. We will travel by pulling our toboggans of gear to gorgeous destinations, build camp, and enjoy the outdoors in winter like you may never have imagined. Fishing, wildlife observation, survival skills, photography and awesome meals await. A variation, depending on the winter conditions may involve some paddling of lakes or rivers.
Outfitting
Paddling and camping gear is available on request. We will work out a package based on what you need and price it competitively. I will need to know your plans, skill and experience levels and preferences for equipment. This will take some discussion followed up by a proposal.

Paddling Instruction
Basic to intermediate canoe and kayak instruction is available on request. We don't teach intermediate or advanced whitewater paddling. We will taylor it to your needs, budget and schedule. This service is for adults and youth accompanied by parent of legal guardians. There are minimum physical and intellectual ability requirements. If you need equipment we will provide it as part of the package deal.
The Silent Glide Store, A Great Little Store
Come and visit my great little retail store. There is everything a paddler or camper will want. It isn't a big place but there is a lot of really neat equipment on display:

There are almost always at least 70 canoes and kayaks to choose from and I will special order any boat or accessory you will want with no extra charge. For canoes and kayaks special orders can take from a few days up to five weeks. For accessory orders it is usually just a few days.
